Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. One of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. Swedish massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an imagearray of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a form of bodywork that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and imageconnective tissue. Deep tissue massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, we often will use direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of your muscles. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to ensure that you remain comfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is common to experience after the treatment.  You're advised to drink plenty of water to aid in the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissues of your body during your massage session.

Orthopedic Massage

image

Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body.  Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. Orthopedic massage involves manipulation and movement of soft tissues to resolve pain and dysfunction. This type of massage releases tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and relieve pressure in rigid joints. Orthopedic massage is designed to restore function and structural balance throughout the body for both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. My goal is to restore full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. imageStanley Lief in England. The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes this form of massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury (such as a muscle strain).  Neuromuscular therapy is effective for many soft tissue pain problems including back and neck pain, headaches including migraines, hip and shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the arms or legs, and the soft tissue aspects of fibromyalgia. Neuromuscular therapy consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm. This type of massage therapy is designed to reduce chronic pain and normalize body posture by selectively loosening tight muscles and connective tissue. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Structural Integration

Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is "bound imageup," thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. The goal of Structural integration is improved alignment and to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of 10 sessions lasting between 75 and 90 minutes in order to "unlock" the whole body.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears.  Reflexology is similar to acupuncture and acupressure in that it works with the imagebody's vital energy through the stimulation of points on the body. Reflexology and acupressure are both "reflex" therapies. They work with points on one part of the body to affect other parts of the body.  Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression. Relax by the fire in a comfortable chair and have a Reflexology treatment today!

Energy Work

Generally, energywork is helpful for stress related conditions as well as psychological a/or spiritual imbalances. Energywork is an extremely relaxing and comforting experience. Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustainimage its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Reiki

Reiki is actually spiritually guided life force energy and is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body.  As a result, the body's natural self-healing imagemechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us.  During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy.  This type of massage allows me to bring you a very deep, peaceful form of relaxation.  The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental and emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.  This form of natural healing allows you to accomplish healing of yourself by helping you to become energetically balanced physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
